  • Overview

    Assists the physician and medical office personnel with questions regarding their accounts with company. Also responds to questions for assistance from CPL representatives system wide, along with departmental employees in regards to these specialized accounts. Adheres to departmental policies and procedures to include departmental programs, quality control, quality assurance, and safety.


    Respects and maintains the confidentiality of information processed. Works with minimal direction; seeks additional help/information as needed from Team leader or Supervisor. Operates general computer CRT, PC, telephone, photocopier, and fax.



    Utilize skills and abilities to efficiently and correctly answer account inquiries.

    • Identifies the caller and client account; verifies all system information is correct.
    • Redirects patient accounts as requested, following all departmental, legal and compliance regulations.
    • Effectively discusses account with inquiring parties in regards to balance, payments, patients or ordered tests.

    Utilizes job knowledge, judgment, and problem solving skills.

    • Effectively communicates account errors and works to resolve them.
    • Documents any concerns an account, following up as needed.
    • Returns incomplete paperwork to appropriate party, requesting needed information and then processes returned information.

    Effectively utilizes departmental resources.

    • Demonstrates ability to handle incoming calls and paperwork; prioritizing as deemed necessary by area Supervisor or Director. 
    • Retains paperwork in organizational manner, recalling as needed for account assistance.
    • Appropriate supplies are on hand and used effectively.

     Personal and professional skills promote customer service environment.

    • Communicates with client offices, insurance companies, patients or fellow employees to.
    • Process account questions.
    • Maintains a working knowledge of company processes and standards, insurance protocols, and national laboratory operational changes.
    • Focus at all times is on courteous service, with efficient resolution of concerns.
    • Maintains a positive work environment within work area and departmental whole.
    • Performs additional tasks as required, meeting time guidelines.

     Any other duties assigned by supervisor.



    Education:  High School diploma or GED



    Minimum—Two years of customer service, with emphasis on professional environment. One-year experience must be in physician/medical office environment.

    Preferred—additional experience in insurance protocols, claim filing and reimbursement guidelines.


    Skills:  Must have proven record in excellent written and verbal skills. Ten key by touch. Ability to prioritize incoming work requests and meet deadlines. Ability to read and write English.
